Prevage Eye Anti-Aging Review
February 20, 2008Prevage Eye Anti-Aging Moisturizing Treatment is an eye treatment from the Prevage skin care line. Prevage is a collaboration of Elizabeth Arden and Allergan, a specialty pharmaceutical company. This eye treatment features the clinically-proven ingredient Idebenone along with I-Seryl Complex. The Prevage line of products is advertised as “the first true cosmeceutical that helps to protect and restore skin” by addressing “the effects of oxidation on the skin, a leading cause of visible signs of aging.”
Idebenone: The best Antioxidant?
The chief ingredient in Prevage is Idebenone. This synthetic variant of Coenzyme Q10 has been cited as one of the most effective antioxidants available today. Idebenone has been shown to be more potent than Coenzyme Q10 to correct and prevent damage to the skin on the cellular level by helping prevent oxidation to the skin. In a consumer test, after 6 weeks, the Company reports the use of Prevage Eye showed an 88% reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, an 81% reduction in the appearance of crow’s feet, an 87% reduction in the look of under-eye puffiness. Additionally, it was reported 96% noticed the eye area felt softer, smooth, and more moisturized, 87% felt their eyes looked brighter, and 89% saw a reduction in the appearance of under-eye circles. As an aside, I am quoting these statistics because I think it is interesting the way companies selectively choose their words for scientific studies. For instance, “the appearance of,” “the look of,” and “noticed.” This allows a Company to state acceptable improvements for marketing purposes by not claiming their product “gets rid of” or “eliminates.” Prevage Eye also contains I-Seryl Complex which the Company advertises “to target the special needs of the eye area.” Unfortunately, this ardent skin care researcher can’t determine what that ingredient is!
Prevage Eye Anti-Aging Moisturizing Treatment "Appears" to "Work"
Since Prevage Eye is encapsulated and time-released, it is gentle to the delicate skin surrounding the eyes. In all fairness, I have not used this product long enough to discern a reduction “in the appearance of” all that ails my poor eye area. However, I did “notice” the skin around the eye area looked tighter, more hydrated, and a bit brighter. Overall, I very much like the properties of Idebenone and think the Prevage line, including Prevage Eye Anti-Aging Moisturizing Treatment, offers effective and worthwhile skin care treatements.

| I was just wondering if anyone else who used this had a problem? I got a really bad rash when using it (and I do NOT have sensitive skin at all). I've NEVER had this happen before. I stopped using the Prevage, and a month later thought I'd try again, that maybe it hadn't been the Prevage that caused the rash. But... I got the rash again... and it took several days to go away. Just wondering if anyone had similar issues? K | ||
