In the April 2008 issue of Lucky Magazine, Korres Natural Products Pomegranate Lip Butter is featured.  Although My Beauty Beat does not normally discuss lip glosses and balms, needed to make an exception for this one!

In the March 2008 issue of Allure Magazine, there is a feature on dermatologic researcher Dr. David McDaniel.  Dr. McDaniel, who has a practice in Virginia Beach, states that most women do not give a skin care regimen the proper time it needs to see results (yours truly is certainly guilty of this!).  McDaniel states he would “like patients to try skin care products for six to eight weeks before they judge.”  Interestingly, for those of us “short on patience,” he notes “In the next couple of years we’ll see things like sound and radio waves that work on tissues under the skin and selectively destroy cellulite or elevate the eyebrows without a brow lift.”  Looking forward !

Are you like me and examine your pores in the mirror like you’re scrutinizing a scientific tisssue?  Well then the article entitled “Pore Obsession” in the January 2008 issue of Allure Magazine may be of interest to you.  Interviewing Dr. Mary Lupo, a dermatologist, the article provides a good summary of everything you want to know about pores!

In the current November issue of Allure Magazine, the article “Home Brews” consults with skin care experts and discusses the validity of home beauty remedies.  Here is Beauty Beat’s synopsis:   

Pimples
Home Remedy: Aspirin
Generic Asprin contains Salicylic Acid (contained in Acne medications).  Could penetrate the oil and employ anti-inflammatory properties but may be irritating for sensitive skin.
Home Remedy: White Toothpaste
Toothpaste used to contain Zinc that was known to decrease inflammation but today’s toothpastes no longer contain it and the fluoride may irritate the skin and worsen acne.
Home Remedy: Lemon Juice
May dehydrate skin but will cause irritation and no benefit. 
Home Remedy: Baking Soda
